OpticianStudy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use opticianstudy.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have questions, contact us at support@opticianstudy.com.

Information We Collect

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. Authentication and account records are handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. Passwords are stored by Supabase in hashed form and are not visible to us.
• Payment information. Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and stores your payment card details directly; we do not receive or store full card numbers. We retain limited subscription records (such as plan, status, and renewal date) to manage your access.
• Learning progress. Your lesson and quiz progress is stored locally in your own browser (in localStorage, under the key optician-study-progress). This progress data stays on your device and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers. Clearing your browser storage will erase it.
• Cookies and session data. We use cookies set by our authentication provider to keep you signed in and to maintain your session. These are necessary for the site to function.
• Usage analytics. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service (Vercel Analytics) to understand aggregate traffic and site performance. It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
• Signup and account events. When you create an account, we record the event — including your name and email address — in our database so our team can welcome new members and provide support. Related subscription events (such as starting or canceling a subscription) are recorded the same way.
• Translation. We offer an optional on-page translation feature powered by Google Translate. If you choose to use it, Google receives the page content and related interaction data in order to provide the translation, subject to Google's own privacy policy. If you do not use the feature, no page data is sent to Google for translation.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account and provide access to course content.
• To process subscriptions, payments, and renewals through Stripe.
• To respond to your questions and provide customer support.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To send you service-related messages, such as account confirmation emails.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the site, and only as needed to provide the service:

• Supabase — authentication and account data.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
• Vercel — website hosting and cookieless analytics.
• Google Translate — optional on-page translation, used only when you activate the translate feature.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.

Data Retention

We keep your account and subscription records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Progress data stored in your browser is under your control and can be cleared at any time.

Your Choices and Rights

You may access or update your account information, cancel your subscription, or request that we delete your account by emailing support@opticianstudy.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data under applicable law.

Children's Privacy

OpticianStudy is intended for adults pursuing professional optical training. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the site.
